Artists I resort to when working

by Leo Fisher - October 17th, 2010

The Dabble. This is a list of artists I tend to gravitate towards when coding or designing.  I always find myself looking for these specific ones because they usually put me in the zone or get me over that hump where I feel like I can’t muster anymore out of me or my mind is turning into mush and churning unoiled, grinding and chugging.

Red Hot Chili Peppers  -

Around this time of working I need that evolution of Red Hot since Californication mixed in with some Give It Away jolts of  awakeness.

Bob Marley -

I like to search for some Bob when I’m getting frustrated when CSS isn’t working in IE 6 or when some Javascript isn’t acting right for me.  Bob soothes the soul therefore engrossing my entirety in calmness heh.

Kanye West -

Kanye gets the poke from my Zune when I’m a little into the project and feeling a little confident especially rounding out the end of the project.

2Pac -

I tend to find myself looking for 2Pac when I need some passion (and some compassion if I’m dispising the situation) in designing, splicing and coding.

Canibus -

No specific situations just like to throw in some clever lyrics and some brain stimuli when working.

The Doors -

In the zone music, that’s what I call The Doors style.  You know what Jim was on when making his music, maybe that’s how I feel when I’m in the zone or would like to feel? or nevermind ha.

Nas -

Early Nas (It Was Written, Illmatic) gets the blood flowing for me, gets me into the work and carries my mind away from my surroundings and focuses me.

Mozart / Beethoven/Chopin/Classical -

Obvious reasons, when words are not needed to distract me and all I need is some violins or pianos and some damn good symphonies.  Of course the added well studied benefits of increasing attentiveness and brain stimulation.

I have more but those are the artists I always resort too.

Which artists do you always seem to listen to when working?
